Welcome to the Skills System! The Skills System is a set of nine coping skills and three system tools that we can use to handle our emotions, thoughts, and actions in ways that help us reach our personal goals. Knowing how to feel emotions and to think clearly helps us experience life fully while making good decisions for ourselves. The Skills System Instructor’s Guide: An Emotion Regulation Skills Curriculum for All Learning Abilities by Julie F. Brown, LICSW is available through Amazon.com. The Guide includes comprehensive curriculum materials for a master’s or PhD level clinician to do individual and/or group Skills System emotion regulation skills training. Below is a video of people using the Skills System!

Skills System Website:
If you can, watch the above video (5 minutes); it is really informative and inspiring. Good news, there are some changes coming to the Skills System website! We have several new products that will help clients and therapists learn skills. There will be a new handout packet (less expensive version:-) and two new CDs that will be available (skills coaching and a mindfulness CD:-). Skills Masters t-shirts will be for sale; they make great prizes and group graduation presents. The link to The Skills System Instructor’s Guide: An Emotion Regulation Skills Curriculum for all Learning Abilities at Amazon.com will hopefully be restored, as well. For now go to Amazon directly and the book is available there. This is the least expensive way to purchase The Guide. Check out the Newsletter/Current Projects tab for more updates.
Skills System Trainings: I will be doing a short presentation at the National NASW conference on July 24th at 3:15 in Washington, DC. If teams want trainings at their agencies information about scheduling (and costs for) phone, Skype, or on-site Skills System training and/or consultation related to starting skills groups and integrating this model effectively are on the Training tab. Call me, Julie Brown at 508-636-3881 or email me at juliebrown@theskillssystem.com with any questions. I offer lots of free consultation- especially related to research ideas!
Learning Materials: The Skills Syctem CD is a great learning tool. It is a 68-minute summary of the skills. It is helpful for anyone who wants to learn skills! The Skills System Handout Notebook is also available at the Skills Store and is a great tool for all skills group members. Bulk rates are available! We have a new (less expensive version) that is coming in the next month or so that will cost under $ .07 per page. Please look at the Copying Skills System Materials tab for details about duplicating handouts and worksheets. Give me, Julie Brown, a call (508-636-3881) to discuss these rates and ways to get skills materials and training that fits your programs budget. Please note: If you are ordering from outside the US, please contact me to find the least expensive shipping options for your order rather than going through the website store.
NEW: The Skills System certification guidelines are complete and able to be viewed on the Certification tab. Additionally, the training formats and costs are now available on the Training tab.
Technical Issues: We are changing our shopping cart and apologize for any challenges you may experience when making purchases in the Skills Store.
